The Parapsychology Foundation is presenting the third in its series of PF Book Expos on WizIQ. The live sessions of the PF Book Expo Fall 2016 will take place on the afternoon of Saturday, November 12th, 2016. Four authors will talk about their recent books, touching on the content, the goals of their books, why they got involved in the process, what they learned along the way, and more. Each talk will be followed by a question and answer session involving the registrants. All three of the books are aimed at the intelligent reader, serious researchers in and students of consciousness and parapsychology. The day will begin with a welcoming session at Noon and end with a wrap up session at 5:00pm Eastern.
Guest lecturers at the Parapsychology Foundation Book Expo Fall 2016 will be:
Dr. Julia Mossbridge of the Institute for Noetic Sciences will present Transcendent Mind: Rethinking the Science of Consciousness, which she co-authored with first author Dr. Imants Baruss. Dr. Mossbridge is an experimental psychologist and cognitive neuroscientist at the Institute for Noetic Sciences, and a Visiting Scholar in Psychology at Northwestern University. Dr. Baruss is a Professor of Psychology at King's University College at the University of Western Ontario. Published by the American Psychological Association this year, in Transcendent Mind, Baruss and Mossbridge utilize findings from quantum mechanics, special relativity, philosophy, and paranormal psychology to build a rigorous, scientific investigation into the origins and nature of human consciousness. Along the way, they examine the scientific literature on concepts such as mediumship, out-of-body and near-death experiences, telekinesis, “apparent” vs. “deep time,” and mind-to-mind communication, and introduce eye-opening ideas about our shared reality. The result is a revelatory tour of the “post-materialist” world and a roadmap for consciousness research in the twenty-first century.
Dr. Renaud Evrard will present Enquete sur 150 ans de parapsychologie: La legende de l'espirt published by the publishing house Trajectoir. Dr. Evrard is a clinical psychologist and a professor at the University of Lorraine. He is also the Co-Founder of Center for Information, Research and Counseling on Exceptional Experiences (CIRCEE). The book presents the results of Dr. Evrard’s historical research into scientific interest in paranormal phenomena in France, the men and women who studied the topic (including Pierre Curie and Charles Richet), their studies, their findings, and the relationship of the early discipline to the psychology of the day.
Titus Rivas and Rodolf Smit will present The Self Does Not Die: Verified Paranormal Phenomena from Near-Death Experiences co-authored with second author Anny Dirven. Titus Rivas has published a variety of books and articles on paranormal phenomena, is the co-founder of the Athanasia Foundation which focuses on evidence for the survival of bodily death, reincarnation and spiritual evoluation. Anny Dirven (1935-2016), who was paranormally gifted, was a researcher for the Athanasia Foundation, and a frequent co-author on books in Dutch with Rivas. Smit is the current editor of the Dutch quarterly Terugkeer (Return), the periodical of the Dutch Network for Near-Death Experiences. The English version was translated and edited by Dr. Jan Holden, a professor and chair of the Department of Counseling and Higher Education in the University of North Texas. She is also the editor of the Journal of Near-Death Studies. The Self Does Not Die is the result of carefully studying and describing many convincing and corrobated cases, during those which occurred during cardiac arrest. The authors have gone back to the original sources, interviewing the people involved in each case whenever possible. Their collection is unique and empirical, worthy of scholarly attention.
The Parapsychology Foundation Fall 2016 Book Expo is aimed at individuals who are interested in scientific parapsychology, its theory and phenomena, and in consciousness, near-death experiences, and the history of the field. You don’t need any particular level of education to enjoy the Expo, just curiosity about the topics.
